Synopsis
This project is the first study of access to domestic & family violence refuge support in Victoria with a focus on the impact of temporary visa status. Based on interviews with over 70% of the refuge sector, the report details the impact visa status has on access to refuge: including exclusion from access or limitations on access. The report details the clear impact that victim survivors who hold a temporary visa status has on refuge resourcing, due to migration system settings that are creating significant challenges for the sector as a whole. The reports highlights where and how reform at the national and state level could alleviate these challenges to ensure all women have equal access to safety.
