Gender, Migration & Labour: Violence, Exploitation and Resistance
This panel will bring together diverse research exploring the relationship between gendered violence, migration and work in a range of settings. The panel will consider the ways in which both labour and migration sysem settings contribute to sustaining gendered violence.
Border Control, Migration and Vulnerability to Domestic and Family Violence
This panel will bring together new empirical research exploring the ways in which border control and migration settings are a key part of domestic and family violence in myriad settings. The panel will advance critical conversations around women's safety and its limits when victim survivors are non-citizens.
Gender-Based Violence in Korea: Research, Policy and Practice
The session welcomes empirical, theoretical, methodological and practice-oriented contributions that engage with diverse populations and social settings. Topics may include, but are not limited to, intimate partner violence, domestic and family violence, sexual violence, technology-facilitated abuse, AI and gendered harms, and violence affecting marginalised communities, as well as policy, prevention, intervention and survivor-centred responses.

Family violence and women’s deaths by suicide: A Victorian study
Women’s deaths by suicide in the context of family violence victimisation represent an important but often overlooked dimension of gender-based violence. Coroners and researchers in Australia and internationally are increasingly drawing attention to the intersection between women’s lived experiences of family violence and their heightened risk of suicide. Currently, suicides related to family violence, including women’s death by suicide in this context, are inconsistently counted in national statistics, obscuring the scale of the issue and limiting opportunities for targeted prevention and intervention.
Drawing on the views of a small group of experts, this report aims to offer insights to inform better understandings of the risk of suicide among women who have experienced family violence victimisation and opportunities to support investigative processes to account for the relationship between family violence and women’s deaths by suicide in Victoria.

This project aims to explore how Australia's migration system intersects with the experience of domestic and family violence for temporary visa holders.
